Rado becomes Official Timekeeper of the SportAccord World Mind Games

Rado, the famous watch brand and member of the Swatch Group, is harnessing its pioneering energy in the service of the human brain and its extraordinary capabilities, by becoming the official timekeeper of the SportAccord World Mind Games

Taking place in Beijing from 8 to 16 December 2011, under the auspices of SportAccord, the umbrella organisation of International Sports Federations. The first SportAccord World Mind Games will see the world’s elite players competing in five mind sports: chess, bridge, draughts, go and xiangqi, the game also known as Chinese chess.
Around 150 players will be taking part in these competitions, which require strategic awareness, intelligence and mental agility. Representing all the strength of the human brain, participants are genuine athletes, given the competitiveness, speed of reaction, physical fitness and self-discipline that practicing their art requires. Designed to eliminate any chance-related element, the format of the first SportAccord World Mind Games also seeks to capture the public’s fascination by providing quick play versions of the competitions and a platform inviting worldwide passionate players to take part in a virtual edition of the games.
 Playing to push the boundaries
Mind games call for those qualities that constantly push the boundaries and innovate, the essence of the Rado philosophy. Having had a presence in China since 1979, and thus becoming the first European brand and the first watch company to invest in the country’s media, Rado is particularly proud to be contributing to the success of this unique event. The Swiss company has always had a special connection with games and the mind, as demonstrated by its partnership with the competition “Rado School Quiz”, one of the most popular televised game shows in China in the early 80s. Moreover, Rado is pleased to be returning to Beijing as the official timekeeper for the SportAccord World Mind Games 2011, just over 20 years after it officiated for the XIth Asian Games held in the Chinese capital in 1990.  Unlimited Spirit.
